Description of Case: Following the delivery of her child by c-section on December 25, 2007, Jane Doe complained of severe back pain. She was seen and evaluated during the postpartum period for low back pain. Eventually when her pain did not subside, she was admitted for a laparotomy to remove a foreign body, a surgical sponge left behind at the time of her delivery.
