Description of Case: John Doe presented to ABC Hospital E. R. with classic signs of a diabetic foot infection. Due to the negligence of the emergency room doctor, John Doe was discharged without antibiotics or an infectious disease consult. Within hours of discharge, patient became extremely ill and unstable, septic and went into septic shock. He was admitted to local hospital that evening and eventually died of complications associated with his foot infection and shock that on autopsy was determined to be necrotizing fasciitis.
